It creates skills in managing conflict effectively and creating shared meaning.

Brainspotting

Brainspotting (BSP) is an evidence-informed therapy rooted in the understanding that the body and mind have a natural capacity to heal. Brainspotting offers a powerful pathway for processing trauma, emotional pain, and deeply held distress, often reaching places that talk therapy alone cannot. At the heart of Brainspotting is a simple but profound insight: where you look affects how you feel. Once a brainspot is identified, the therapist supports you in staying with that focal point safely and in a contained manner. This focused attention activates the brain's natural processing and self-healing mechanisms, allowing stored pain, tension, and trauma to begin to release, often without needing to narrate or relive difficult memories. Brainspotting is a flexible and deeply attuned modality that can support a wide range of experiences, including:

  • Trauma and PTSD
  • Anxiety and chronic stress
  • Depression
  • Grief and loss
  • Performance blocks in sports, creativity, or professional life
  • Physical symptoms connected to emotional distress

Because Brainspotting works beneath the level of conscious thought, it can be especially helpful for people who feel "stuck" despite years of talk therapy, or for those who find it difficult to put their experiences into words. One of the most meaningful aspects of Brainspotting is what it doesn't require. There's no pressure to recount your story in detail or push through painful memories on demand. Instead, the process honors your own pace and your body's intelligence, creating the conditions for healing to unfold organically.
If you're curious about whether Brainspotting might be right for you, we invite you to reach out. We're here to answer your questions and explore the path forward together.

Third Party Reproduction Consultations and Evaluations

When individuals or couples are trying to conceive using a third party (e.g., egg donor, sperm donor, embryo donor, gestational carrier) the American Society for Reproductive Medicine advises that they meet with a qualified mental health professional to discuss the social, emotional, and psychological aspects of doing so. Additionally, donors and gestational carriers are required to participate in a similar consultation, along with psychological testing. Dr. Hansen offers the following services:

  • Donor Recipient/Intended Parent Consultation
  • Anonymous Donor Evaluations
  • Agency Gestational Carrier Evaluations
  • Known Donor/Gestational Carrier Evaluations
  • Donor/Carrier and Intended Parent Joint Consultations.

As a member of PsyPact, Dr. Hansen is able to provide telehealth services to people located in most states.
